The Danish Girl

I didn’t think I’d ever promote myself outside of Denmark. I’m a Dane with a capitol D (well … even if the D weren’t already ;-)). I’m not into traveling (except astral travel), and I feel nice and comfortable right here at home!

But now I feel life calling me. It wants more. It tells me that when coaches and teachers talk about “sharing your gifts with the world” we should really be taking “the world” very literaly.

So here I am, world. Looking forward to seeing where life takes me.

You talked to a dead person. So what!?

When I hosted Bruce Moen’s Exploring the Afterlife workshops in Copenhagen I used to share my own and other participants’ experiences on Facebook and in conversations. That often provoked some specific reactions that I would like to comment on.

“No thanks, I’m enjoying my present life”

When I shared links to the workshop, often people who said no to participating also added “I’m choosing to  live in the now”, “I’d rather speak to the living” and stuff like that with a wink that told me that they didn’t quite get my interest in the Afterlife when there’s a life to live here and now.

I perfectly understand that some people are not interested in these things, but wouldn’t it be kind of odd if someone, say, invited me to Africa or India, and I said no and added “there is a life to live right here in Denmark, so why would I??”. 😉

My interest in traveling inward (upward/outward?) is by no means fueled by a desire to escape my life here and now. Far from it. It’s a curiosity to learn more about who and what I am. A curiosity that has been sparked repeatedly by personal experiences that tell me that this physical world might not only consist of the things we can touch, smell, taste, see and hear.

I don’t long to be in a different and “better place”, but I think that by understanding how life itself  really “works”, I can make this life and the physical world better for myself and my surroundings. And, none the least, I find it very interesting to challenge the things I believe in, sort of in the same way that other people find it interesting to explore other countries’ cultures, languages, food, religions and people, and thereby broaden their own horizon.

“So what?”

Some people simply don’t see what’s so great about talking to a dead person. It’s not that they question the reality of it, necessarily, but even if it’s real, they just don’t think it matters.

For me it matters tremendously if the world works the way science says or not. It matters to me emotionally if the people I love are completely gone when they are dead, or they are actually still around. It matters to me personally if I actually have access to tools I don’t know about because I’m limited by my beliefs. It mattes to me if I can trust what my senses are telling me. And it matters to me if what others (schools, churches, parents and others who are allowed to affect our beliefs throughout our lives) are teaching me is the truth or just illusions.

Having been in contact with a dead person doesn’t give all the answers, but to have experiences that conflict with our beliefs is an effective way to broaden our horizon, and it’s a good place to start.

My general view on after-death communications

I have a mission. Well, I have more than one, but this specific mission is to demystify after-death communications. I think there’s way too much mystery around Afterlife contact when instead it should be a natural part of life. The Afterlife and Life after Death are actually misleading terms. There is only Life, and the part of life where we are in spirit does not take place after the physical life, but rather during. We are always spirit.

In my view, contacting and communicating with people who are no longer (or not at the moment) in a physical body should not be treated with greater awe, fear or respect than communicating with people who are physically alive.

In the same way that you wouldn’t be afraid to call a physically living person on the phone, you don’t have to be afraid to “call” a deceased person, or have a whole other respect around it. The other person may not “answer the phone”, or there could be connection disturbance, but you can and may always call them.

What is after-death communications?

After-death communications is being in contact with a human or animal who used to live here on earth in a physical body. The fact that they’re no longer focusing a part of their awareness into a physical body does not mean that they’re no longer conscious, and so it’s still possible to have a connection with them.

Is it hard to get in contact with a deceased person?

Yes and no. For some people it’s really easy. They see and communicate with deceased people just as easily as people who are physically alive. But it’s not that easy for most of us.

Others have learned and trained it for a long time and have become really good at it. Some of those work as mediums.

Some people are easily in contact with people they have known personally, but are not in contact with deceased people they didn’t know.

But my short answer to the question “is it easy” would have to be: Yes, it is. It’s so easy that it’s hard to believe that you’re really doing it. And that makes it, well, difficult. Because often it’s very subtle, and as I said, for most of us it’s not as clear a contact as the contact with a physically living being.

Can you get in contact if the person has reincarnated?

Yes, no problem. It may sound strange, but if you consider that we are always spirit, even when a part of us is focused into a physical body, then you’ll always be able to contact the part that is spirit. Energetically nothing disappears, so the personality who once existed as a specific physical human being will still exist on a different level. It’s not the same personality that is reborn, but a different aspect of the spirit who has that personality’s experience at their disposal. I can recommend reading more about it in Bruce Moen’s books.

I have heard that I cannot or should not contact a specific deceased person – is that true?

Nope, go ahead and “call them”. 🙂 I know that a lot of mediums claim that they can only contact whoever wants to see you when you go to contact them, but that’s probably more about them not wanting to (understandably) guarantee it or get your hopes up if for some reason that person doesn’t “pick up the phone” when they call them for you. There’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t give it a try.

Can you guarantee that I can contact a deceased person?

No. In the same way I cannot guarantee that you can get in touch a physically living person when you try, I cannot guarantee that you can get in touch with a deceased one. Unfortunately.

What is your own experience with Afterlife contact, Anja?

I lost my father in 1997, and since then several mediums/clairvoyants told me that “he was around” when I talked to them, and that he was looking out for me. And that was good to hear, but … it didn’t really sink in as true knowledge with me even though they were able to tell me things they couldn’t possibly have known without actually talking to him.

It wasn’t until I spontaneously got in contact with him myself during one of Bruce Moen’s workshops in 2010 that I really felt and understood it. I want to give other people that experience too, and that’s the reason why I’m teaching Bruce’s method today in various forms.

In Bruce’s workshops I have also been in contact with other people’s deceaced loved ones, and that’s how I know it’s easy. But I would much rather teach you how to do it yourself than to make contact for you, because I think that’s much more valuable. (And I am not one of those highly trained mediums.) It wasn’t until I was in contact with him myself, that I really believed and felt in my heart that he was there.

How do I learn to get in contact with a deceased loved one?

The teachings I offer online are only in Danish so far, but I’m working on a translation. I am, however, certified to teach Bruce Moen’s Exploring the Afterlife workshop, so contact me if you want me to do that in your country (in English, of course). In February I’m doing that in Italy. Contact my host Davide Rozzoni to get more information about that.

You can read more about the method here: It’s so simple that it’s hard to believe we’re doing it

And you can read why, although it’s easy to do on your own, you should attend a workshop for it here: Why participate in a workshop when I can do it all at home?

You make it sound so easy. What makes it so hard, then?

Doubt! As Bruce Moen used to say: “it’s so easy that the hardest thing is to believe you are doing it”.

The only way to get rid of the doubt is to practise and to ask for proof every time you do it. Practice contacting people you didn’t know – that will make the evidence stronger. Some times you will not doubt the contact at all, but if you do, then ask the person to show you or tell you something that you couldn’t possibly know without actually having spoken to them. If later you can then verify that piece of information, that’s stong evidence that you have actually been in contact. The more evidence you gather, the weaker your doubt will get.

Isn’t  it dangerous?

No. It’s loving communication with people close to you. As with anything else in life, of course it’s a good idea to get to know the area when you move into foreign territory, but it is no more dangerous than it is harmless. The fact that some people have had terrifying experiences with ghosts etc. doesn’t mean that it’s a dangerous field to move into. It just means that someone was scared of something they didn’t know what was or how to handle.

Do you remember the first time you were home alone as a child and got scared of something in the dark? But then when your mother came and turned on the light, it turned out that there was nothing to be afraid of? It’s a little bit like that with contacting the non-physical. Fear and ignorance can negatively impact our experiences.

These were some of my answers to frequently asked questions and myths about after-death communications. I’d love to hear your comments and experiences below.

Remember: All of the above are my beliefs and experience. If you have a different experience, and your gut feeling tells you something else, then please do listen to your own guidance. I’m not here to convince you, only to encourage you to explore things on your own.

Why participate in a workshop when I can do it all at home?

I wrote this post on my Danish blog a couple of years ago, and at that time it was about my TMI Excursion Workshops, but it actually applies to other workshops – like Bruce Moen’s Exploring the Afterlife workshop – as well. In my previous post I shared his method of Exploring the Afterlife, and you can also find it in his books, so if you read any of that, you might be thinking: “Now, why would I participate in a workshop then??”

So here are:

5 reasons why you should participate in a workshop instead of doing it on your own (and a 6th reason that might be just as important)

Reason #1: You’ll actually get it done

Perhaps you’re one of those very rare disciplined people who set a goal, and then you walk a straight line towards it without hesitation. And then you might not need my help (perhaps – keep reading anyway).

Buuut then again, you might be like most of us: You buy a set of cd’s or books, try one or two of the excercises, and then … life just happens, and you stop. Especially if you didn’t get anything spectacular out of the exercises this first time.

My guess is that no matter how disciplined your are, you probably don’t give yourself something like 9 hours of intensive exercises and reflection for 2 days in a row. But then, why would you do that, you might ask. The answer to that question lies in …

Reason #2: Resistance (and why one or two exercises aren’t necessarily enough)

There’s a part of you who just wants everything to be as it is. That part of you is called many things, like your ego or little self. And it’s job is to keep itself/you alive. So when something happens that looks like it might be threatening its/your existence (like everything you believe in), it works against it.

The strength of the resistance depends, of course, on your reason for doing these exercises. If you just want to quietly teach your mind and brain to relax, your resistance probably won’t be too strong. And if this is your purpose, one exercise a day is fine (although, you might want to read reason #1 again).

But if you would like to go deeper (higher? wider?) and really connect with yourself (or something outside of yourself), then it’s a lot more effective to do several exercises in a row – and for several days in a row. Not only will you train your brain to get into the state you want faster, but you’ll also tire/exhaust the part of you who just wants to keep status quo.

It can sound negative and forced, but that’s not how it works in practice. The Hemi-Sync process (and Bruce’s process as well) is a gentle and loving process, and by using it consistently and intensively, the ego gets a chance to discover that it’s not so dangerous, and then it calms down..

So I can only say that if you think it seems like two loooooong days? Good! Then I’m sure there’s going to be something (good) in it for you. And then you’ll need:

Reason #3: Guidance

I’ve been trained to guide you through the process that exercises like these can initiate.

Sometimes you’ll just hear me say “aha” and “oh” and “interesting”, because your experiences are yours, and I cannot and will not interpret them.

But I will give you some advice on how you can explore them further and find the answers for yourself. What you can do if you feel that absolutely nothing is happening. How you can handle it if something frightens you. If there’s something you can do differently to get a different outcome.

I’ll also help you handle the resistance I mentioned in #2. It can show itself in various ways, like falling asleep or clicking out (which is like a sudden “cut” in your conscious awareness – a very odd experience).

I’ve had participants in Excursion workshops who had done Gateway Experience (the home study version of TMI’s Gateway Voyage), and they all told me that they got so much more out of it with a live trainer- for the reasons I just mentioned.

Reason #4: Group energy and the value of the other participants’ experiences

Something very special happens when you meditate or do other energy work in a group. There’s a special group energy that you don’t experience on your own.

Your experiences are mirrored in the other participants, and their experiences are mirrored in you. To share what you’ve experienced (or haven’t experienced) during the exercises, has an enormous value to the people you share it with.

Have you ever tried (I bet you have) having a dream at night and then not remembering it when you wake up? And then suddenly during the day you hear the word “spaghetti”, and you remember that you dreamed that you were in an Italian restaurant, and then the whole scenario unfolds for you again?

Sleep is an altered state of consciousness, and this mechanism also applies to other altered states – like the ones you learn to move into with (or without) Hemi-Sync. And that’s one of the reasons it has great value to talk about your experiences afterwards – and hear about the other’s. Also when you don’t think you experienced anything at all.

Reason #5: Inner anchorage

The anchorage actually comes from reason #2, 3 and 4. To work with something in depth, to share it with other people, and to have a facilitator at hand.

And when something has been anchored you’ll be much better equipped to work with it on your own when you get home. The discipline will then come because you felt the benefits quickly and intensively.

The extra reason #6: Go offline, and meet real people!

Online workshops is the thing these days. I love them myself. For some purposes. But I’ve discovered that my spiritual development is best worked on in interaction with “real” people. It can be very comfortable to stay at home and avoid being confronted with anyone other than yourself (which can be “bad” enough, sometimes), but I still think you should give yourself the gift of getting close to other people who are on same journey as you. 🙂

Interview with Bruce Moen

In 2010 I did this interview with my friend and teacher Bruce Moen.

The questions I asked him was collected from friends and followers through Facebook.

You can hear us talk about stuff like: How come the Afterlife is perceived so differently from person to person? What is the Afterlife like for someone who doesn’t believe in one? What is energy? Are there other civilizations out there? And much more.

He also talks about his Grandpa Project – a sort of “telephone” to the Afterlife, which turned out to be able to measure Reiki energy.

You may be surprised about what he has to say about the Big Bang.

And you can hear him tearing up as he tells a father how to communicate with his deceased son.

The whole interview lasts for 2 hours and 45 minutes, and there was so much more to talk about.

You can either listen to the whole interview or one question/answer at a time if you prefer:

The guide mentioned to contact a deceased loved one can be found in Bruces first book Voyages into the Unknown and also on his website here: Guidelines for Afterlife Contact

The method described is what Bruce calls a retrieval, but you can use the same method to “just” get in contact with someone you know.

✿ Bruce Moen died on the 14th. of November 2017. ❤

It’s so simple that it’s hard to believe we’re doing it

What plane did he work from? The mental plane? The etheric plane? Which focus level do you have to be in to contact a deceased person? Did he go out of body? Was what he did  actually lucid dreaming? Which Hemi-Sync cd will help me go where he went? Is it better to sit or lie down? What is the best method to go out of body?

These are all questions that might hit you as you read books like Bruce Moen’s. We read all these amazing and detailed accounts of his experiences, and some of us begin to wonder how to get there ourselves.

And these are good questions if we want to put Bruce’s experiences into a frame we already know and can relate to. They are less useful, however, when it comes to actually doing what he did.

The method

Luckily for us, Bruce was a very practical guy. As he wrote in his Afterlife Knowledge Guidebook: “As an engineer my training has been focused on looking for ways to make processes more efficient, less costly and less time consuming”. Thus he created the simplest method to be able to teach people to do what he did. And this is where it gets tricky.

He used to say: “Learning to explore our afterlife is so easy that the hardest thing is to believe you are doing it”.

And it really is easy. Actually, I can give you the method right here:

  • Sit comfortably in a chair
  • Take deep relaxing breaths
  • Imagine bright energy coming from below and above run through you and around you
  • Feel love
  • Set an intention to visit with the person you want to contact
  • Ask for a helper to come
  • Ask the helper to take you to the person you’re going to visit
  • Talk to that person, and get some information that you can (hopefully) verify afterwards.

That’s how simple it is. A short and boring version of how simple it is (if you come to a workshop – read here why you should – I’ll make it a lot more fun and interesting, I promise!), but never the less: That’s it.

But then here’s the hard part: How do we know the contact we make is real??

And this is where us curious, read-a-lot-of-books-about-this-stuff, left brain types (typically) begin to complicate things. We try the method, but nah, it can’t be that easy, and then we begin to look for the key in the state he was in. “Perhaps I need to get into the mental layer of my aura. Perhaps I need to be feeling love more strongly. Perhaps I need to be in this or that focus level. Perhaps I’m not relaxed enough. Perhaps it works better lying down. Perhaps I should call an archangel and not just a regular helper.”

But those are all the wrong places to look for that key. The key is in the very last part of the method: Get some information that you can (hopefully) verify afterwards.

And this is where it gets vulnerable. It takes courage. And my guess (or my projection) is that this is why most of us give up and never really get past the doubt.

How to get verifiable information, and why it takes courage

Ask someone you know if you can have the name of a deceased person you didn’t know, but that they knew well, contact this person and see if you can get a message for them and other information to verify your experience.

Most people (I’m guessing and suggesting you’ll only ask people who won’t think you’re a nutcase) will probably say yes and give you the name of a parent, child, brother, sister, friend or grandparent.

So far so good.

Then you apply the method. You contact this person and get an impression of their surroundings, their looks, what they did in their physical life, how they died, and you ask them to show you or tell you something that might prove to the person who gave you their name that the contact was real.

And then comes the vulnerable part: To sit down with your friend and tell them what you perceived. And to risk being totally wrong. Not only because that friend might be hoping to get verification that their loved one lives on, and you don’t want to disappoint them, but also because, unless you’re the robust type with really high self-esteem, you’ll probably feel like a failure.

Also, if nothing could be verified, then what? What if this happens the first 10 times you do it? How long can you keep it up before a piece of verifiable information comes along? And not just a small piece that you can rationalize away (as we often do after some time), but a big chunk that can’t be dismissed?

(A note here that I’ll write more about in another post and talk about in the workshop: Be aware that your friend who submitted the name, might not be very open to what you’re relaying, for various reasons, and you may actually have a lot more hits than you think!)

Remember, Bruce struggled with this for years

Bruce was persistent, and he kept at it. If you’ve read his books, you’ll know that we get well into book number 2 before he has that “voyage beyond doubt” that gave him certainty. It took him about 3 years:

“I’d been exploring human existence after “death” for three years or so. Many experiences in this arena had contained  information verifiable to some extent. But I had always had a feeling of skepticism and doubt, even in these verifiable experiences. Some part of me was holding out, refusing to fully accept my experience as real. That part of me denied the possibility that I could explore the Afterlife because it held to the belief there was no such thing. Call it a lack of confidence or just plain skepticism, at some level I’d always carried that doubt.”
(Voyage Beyond Doubt, page 143)

Remember this as you move along on your own journey. It didn’t come easily to him either. It may look like it when you read his books, but those are the accounts of years of training and afterthought.

We’re all beginners at some point, so as with everything else in life: Don’t compare yourself with someone who worked hard to be on the expert level, when you’re only just moving into territory that’s unknown to you. Keep at it, and most importantly: Keep an open mind.

The explorer’s mind

Back to those questions I began with. I don’t find it easy (either), but I’m trying to let go of what I think I already know about how things should or must be. At least when that “knowing” is actually a belief. Of course concepts are very useful when it comes to learning and understanding, but I try to remind myself once in a while that they can also block my own experience.

For example: What if I expect to see chakras in bright colors because I read a lot of books saying that we have these things, but I have yet to perceive them myself? That might make me think there’s something I’m doing wrong. Perhaps I’ll even get fixated on trying to see those chakras and thereby miss something even more interesting or important to me.

By trying (and failing) for years to go out of body because I’ve read in Robert Monroe’s books that that’s the way he explored, I might miss a method that’s a lot easier to attain. Like Bruce’s.

Do you see where I’m getting at?

It’s not that I don’t understand the need to, well, understand how something works, but I just want to point out that it’s probably the least effective way to go about it.

What we really need to do is to get practical. Frightening as it may be to risk looking stupid, pretentious, amateurish or whatever shadow might be in the way of our getting down to business.

Now, let’s gather our courage and go explore!

Going to Italy – yay!

I’ve been invited to teach Bruce Moen’s Exploring the Afterlife workshop in Italy in February 2019. I have never taught it abroad before – only once for a small group in Denmark where I live – so I’m really excited about this wonderful oportunity.

That is also the reason for this new website in English. So far I’ve never had the reason to communicate with anyone outside of Denmark about these things, since this is where I’ve been teaching – in Danish.

But this Monday I was introduced to the Italians who might be interested in going to this workshop during a Facebook Live event with Davide Rozzoni from Hemi-Sync Italia , who is arranging it. And reading and hearing all the interesting questions they had about Bruce’s work, has inspired me to write something about it in English as well.

I hope you’ll enjoy it. It is going to be about the things I’ve learned from Bruce, and of course my own experiences along the way.

Now, let’s go explore!
